Earlier this week I was honored to have co-hosted a festive evening with Gwynnie Bee. It was a time for current Gwynnie Bee members to gather and meet each other, swap stories of how they heard about GB, and for guests to learn all about the fabulous and forward-thinking company.
Being not only a party of the Gwynnie Bee family but also a co-host I really wanted to show up a festive style for the night while keeping my chic with an edge style. I went with a fabulous curve hugging ABS dress for the night that has the perfect amount of sparkle and a draped asymmetrical gold zipper. I completed the look with some snakeskin embossed wedge booties, statement earrings and an oxblood leather/ostrich feather clutch. A big kudos to DreamDry salon for creating a chic yet deconstructed bun that polished off the look.

I know it has been a while since my last style post and I’m gonna be honest I stopped posting due to some rather hateful and “fat shamming” comments I got on my site and twitter. To me the whole point of sharing personal style posts is to show how you make style your own and also how plus-size women have fun with fashion. So I took a small break from OOTD posting to get my head back into a good place, re-vamp and re-brand the plus-size section of the site (more on that soon) and come back to you my loyal readers and fans with quality style and fashion looks. All that said, I find it fitting that this post is titled “Back with a ROAR” because when push comes to shove I will come back bigger and louder than ever.
Swing dresses are becoming my new favorite look for fall/winter. I’ve recently lost about 18lbs which is forced into that dreaded “in-between sizes” category so I find swing dresses to to work well as they are not super form fitting and allow you some wiggle room while to you down to a true size again. The red leopard print dress I’m wearing here is a fabulous ASOS Curve from Gwynnie Bee find. The moment I saw it I knew I had to have it since leopard print is having a big moment right now plus the style is fabulous. Since the weather as dropped quite a bit here in NYC I brought out my new coat from UK plus-size brand EVANS. Similar to the dress this cost is a swing-dress style with a lovely Peter-Pan collar. I got this style for the strict reason that as it gets colder outside the swing-style cut of the coat will allow me wear sweaters and sweatshirts without looking bulky. Finishing out the looks a are knit/faux-leather leggings from Torrid, bracelets from BaubleBar and a vintage DKNY handbag that was a sweet find on eBay Fashion.
I’m excited to be back and ready to go to bring everyone not just new personal style looks but also more, fun and unique coverage of plus-size fashion! Have questions about plus-size fashion or want to see a certain brand covered? Tweet be at @entertainista ~ XOXO Misti

A few weeks ago I rejoiced when I heard that DKNY was releasing a new cozy via DKNY Jeans in a plus-size (read about it here). I quickly ordered myself one of these magical sweaters and noticed something, according to the tag (and Macys.com) this was a wear 3-ways cozy vs. the 12+ of the original. This made me wonder just how many of the cozy styles available via the iPhone app could I replicate.
Now, its important to know there are some style & cut differences between the DKNY Jeans plus-size cozy and the original, for one the ends feature a set of snaps and the neckline is different. However, I was still able to get at least 5 different styles out of my cozy (more if I had a bangle on me).

Day 3 of New York Fashion Week turned out to be one of the lighter days on my schedule (which was a first). Kicking starting the day with a massage at the Zappo’s ReCharge lounge which included a massage, sipping on some new, yummy BluePrint Cleanse juices and hanging with two of my blogger friends Lorna of @TheFabReport and Lisa of @BeautybyBenz. The next stop was the Style Coalition + P&G Beauty #PGStyle lounge where I found the rest of my KENTON Crew and enjoy some great conversation along with hair and nail touch-ups (see photos from the Zappo’s and PGStyle lounge at the end of the post).
My look for the day was all inspired by this fabulous bodycon I dress found from ASOS Curve. I love a good cold-shoulder and the stripes managed to work with my plus-size body instead of against it. I added color to the look with a red, white, and black clutch and paired the clutch with a simple pair of black booties (both from JustFab) and a silver hand-harness from k2o by Karen Ko.
Day two of New York Fashion Week kicked off with a slight problem, we lost power at the KENTON house for a good 45 minutes. Being even 5 minutes behind schedule during fashion week is a problem but 45 minutes is full on chaos. However I feel happy with the way my look turned with only have natural daylight to work with.
I love the combination of black and navy, so I based my day 2 look on this color scheme. JustFab sent me a fabulous bag to use during fashion in this color combo with some gold hardware, so using this as my point of inspiration. The dress/tunic was a great find on ASOS Curve, a site which is really growing their plus-size offering in flattering fits and styles. I finished the look with gold and rose gold toned jewelry and sandals.
Kicking off my 8 days of New York Fashion Week was a 9am show so I knew I wanted to go a little more on the comfortable side to keep up with my full schedule of shows. I opted for a black & white stripped dress from American Rag + Gwynnie Bee. This dress is super comfortable but has a nice chic look to thanks to its flattering fit. Paired with a faux suede handbag and demi-wedges from JustFab and some rocking jewels from k2o by Karen Ko and I was ready for Day 1 at The Tents. Summer is sadly coming to a close so I am taking every chance I can to wear my sleeveless dresses and sandals. This week has been full of events and prep for upcoming New York Fashion Week so I went with a graphic print dress from NY Collection via Gwynnie Bee* paired with some teggings and flat sandals. I added some pop of color with my accessories with a fuschia handbag and a mint buckle bangle.
